ChatGPT Surpasses Crypto as Most Influential Future Tech

When cryptocurrency arrived on the scene, it excited investors with the potential to revolutionize global financial systems by creating a form of digital gold.
While the future for crypto is still bright, there’s something bigger than digital gold that everyone’s talking about now– AI.
If you take a look at the volume of Google searches for ChatGPT (red) and crypto (blue), it’s easy to see that ChatGPT has already surpassed the height of cryptocurrency’s public interest.
Why?
Cryptocurrency’s potential to revolutionize financial systems is impressive, but AI systems like ChatGPT have the potential to revolutionize the finance industry too– and just about everything else
AI’s domination is obvious for institutional investors with 53% of those surveyed by JP Morgan believing AI and machine learning will be the most influential tech in shaping the future of trading. For comparison, only 12% of those surveyed believed that cryptocurrency and distributed ledger technology will be the most influential.
ChatGPT is an AI system that uses advanced language processing and machine learning algorithms to generate answers to user prompts. Its answers are shockingly human, and it can generate everything from blog posts, letters, emails, fiction, poetry, and even computer code.
This system is expected to make job positions like legal assistance, coding, and market analysis obsolete since ChatGPT has access to the entirety of human knowledge found on the internet and can quickly condense it into a better answer than most experts can provide.
Practical Applications
ChatGPT saved a dog's life
When veterinarians couldn’t correctly diagnose Twitter user @peekcooper’s dog, he took that matter into his own hands, or more accurately, into the hands of ChatGPT.

He entered his dog's symptoms into Chat-GPT along with the blood test results from the recent vet visit.
With this information, ChatGPT hypothesized that the dog suffered from immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. Upon a second vet visit, the doctor confirmed ChatGPT’s diagnosis and the proper medication cured the dog’s severe anemia.
AutoGPT created an interactive map
AutoGPT came out just a few weeks ago and already has AI experts claiming that it makes ChatGPT look like a toy.
ChatGPT is classified as narrow AI. It can carry out a single task when prompted and performs better when given more information. Generalized AI, like AutoGPT, doesn't need a prompt. Instead, you can assign AutoGPT a task and it will continuously generate the best steps forward until the task is complete.
One user assigned AutoGPT with the task of building a web page that mapped out all Chademo electric vehicle charging stations and provided a cost filter option. AutoGPT was almost successful in completing the task– it used its inbuilt Python tools, html, and storage, but fell short when it tried to publish online through Google Cloud and failed a CAPTCHA test.
Why It Matters
Cryptocurrency is a standalone innovation that offers a decentralized currency and enables secure peer-to-peer transactions. While this seemed like a world-altering innovation in 2020, it pales compared to the AI wave already hitting us.
Advanced AI systems like ChatGPT and AutoGPT have the potential to automate a shocking portion of humanity’s work and dramatically accelerate the remaining tasks it cannot complete alone.
